Tech house with soul and hip hop in it, from a Los Angeles producer with charting Beatport singles and a pile of IDs about to land.
NickySnax is a DJ and producer in Los Angeles. His own line for the sound: "Nasty hip-hop vibes, with a tech house groove." His kit says it the long way: "He has a unique sound in the tech house genre, blending soul, hip hop, and otherworldly sounds to create an electrifying experience on the dancefloor."
How it started
It started small. "Back in college, I messed around with the trial version of FL Studio. I never had the courage to go all in until I got older, and decided to start the journey with Soundcloud edits, then soon after, releasing with underground tech house labels."
Mentorship came next, from Leftwing : Kody and Toolroom Academy, and the releases followed. This year alone: Crush on GOODSIDE in March, the Tell Me Something and Disrupt EPs, and the singles None Of Your Business, Turn Up The Bass, WAS MY MAN and Party Rocker.
Crush got support from Armin Van Buuren, Danny Avila, Dark Heart, Don Diablo, Carl Bee, Max Low and GAWP. Data Transmission wrote: "It is one of those records that DJs reach for when the room is already moving, and you want to keep it there." Read the review.
On the decks
Splash House in Palm Springs in 2023 and again in 2024. Opening for Melé in Chicago in July 2024. Closing for Oliver Heldens in Los Angeles in January 2025. Opening for DJ Hanzel (Dillon Francis) at NOVA SD in December 2025, and for Tom & Collins in Los Angeles this January. In between, residencies around Los Angeles.
The night
Ask him for the night that stands out and he goes past the set. "Ya know, I'm sure a lot of DJs will agree, but it's gotta be the afters... I can remember one night in particular after Splash House in Palm Springs. The party was quite literally jumpin' till 6 in the morning!"
Right now
"On top of being a new dad, I've somehow found some time to cook up so many IDs that are soon ready to share with the world."
What is next
"A lot of new music coming in 2027 on many labels. Starting off the year with a club banger on Quincy Boy Records in January. You don't wanna miss it!"
